Janel Grant Files Motion To Strike Dr. Carlon Colker’s Complaint, Seeking Damages

There has been a new update related to the lawsuit against Vince McMahon.

Per John Pollock of POST Wrestling, Janel Grant filed a motion, hoping to strike the verified complaint that Dr. Carlon Colker issued. Grant is also seeking penalties.

This comes after Dr. Colker denied any wrongdoing regarding his treatment of Grant and filed a petition, aiming to obtain evidence from Grant so that he would have the basis for “defamation, tortious interference with business relations, and negligent and intentional inflation of emotional distress.” Dr. Colker also called Grant’s allegations about her treatment at his Peak Wellness Clinic a “smear campaign” and claimed that it severely harmed him, his reputation and that of the clinic.

Grant previously filed a petition against Dr. Colker for medical records, as she claimed that she was not aware of the treatments she received at the clinic. Grant also alleged that she started seeing Dr. Colker after Vince McMahon told her to do so.

In Grant’s new motion, she aimed to strike Dr. Colker’s complaint and dismiss his bill of recovery. Additionally, she is seeking “an award for statutory sanctions, costs, and attorneys’ fees against Plaintiffs.”

Furthermore, Grant’s attorneys called Dr. Colker’s petition a “desperate and brazen attempt to silence a former patient investigating wrongdoing related to her medical care.” Pollock writes that Grant’s side asserts that Dr. Colker’s complaint did not establish claims that relief may be granted on. Plus, Grant’s attorneys argue that Dr. Colker’s complaint infringes on her freedom of speech, as this was a matter of public health and concern.

Grant argues that the complaint by Colker failed to establish claims upon which relief could be granted and is an infringement on her First Amendment right of free speech to report on a matter of public health and concern.

Lastly, Grant is also seeking treble damages against Colker and Peak Wellness; her side asserts that they brought the bill of discovery lacking probable cause in the petition, and they called it “a “malicious intent unjustly to vex and trouble Ms. Grant.”

In January 2024, Janel Grant filed a lawsuit against Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis, and WWE, alleging that she was the victim of sex trafficking and sexual assault. McMahon denied the allegations. However, he remains under federal investigation.

Pollock later shared a statement from Vine McMahon’s counsel:

WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
