Deonna Purrazzo has praised the AEW locker room, amid talk of MJF and Britt Baker‘s backstage incident.
On the July 31 episode of AEW Dynamite, TBS Champion Mercedes Moné said that Britt Baker had been suspended. This turned out to be a real-life suspension. A backstage incident between Britt Baker, MJF and Alicia Atout was said to have taken place.
Only Baker faced suspension. She reportedly criticized the amount of time MJF and Will Ospreay had for their one-hour Dynamite match, before shouting at MJF’s fiancée. This led to MJF confronting the former AEW Women’s Champion, ending in him punching a wall.
Deonna Purrazzo spoke with Stephanie Chase (H/T to Fightful) about the incident. She revealed that she thinks it was just a one-off, before praising the AEW locker room.
She said the locker room is supportive and encouraging, and deserves more credit for how welcoming it is. Deonna Purrrazzo largely defected away from the incident, calling it an “isolated incident”.
“I think this was just one instance that sparked a lot of drama, and also kind of took on a life of its own.” Deonna Purrazzo said. “The rumor mill starts going, and things aren’t as they were. People add their two cents, and it makes it way bigger than it was.”
“I think this was an isolated incident because everything else that I’ve experienced in this locker room is supportive, encouraging, is a lot of camaraderie. We just recently celebrated people’s birthdays and had birthday cakes and sang. I feel this locker room doesn’t get as much credit as it deserves for that type of camaraderie. I don’t know what it was like before, I can only speak to my experiences, but I feel like it doesn’t get enough credit as it deserves.” Purrazzo added.
