Bayley: If It Was Up To Me, I’d Still Be With Damage CTRL; I Wish We Could’ve Done More

Bayley wishes she was still a part of Damage CTRL.

The former WWE Women’s Champion formed the group in 2022, recruiting the returning IYO SKY and Dakota Kai into the faction.

The group later recruited Asuka and Kairi Sane, which spelled disaster for Bayley. They plotted and talked badly about her behind her back, which led to a confrontation and Bayley being kicked from the group.

She had the last laugh, though, as Bayley defeated IYO SKY at WrestleMania 40 to become the WWE Women’s Champion. However, this was not her plan from the beginning, and she never wanted to leave the group in the first place.

Bayley recently spoke with Bill Pritchard of WrestleZone about how the group’s membership was decided. Bayley has always said she wanted IYO and Dakota in the group to elevate them. Did they ever discuss having the group live on past one specific member, whether it was her or one of the others?

Bayley on revisiting Damage CTRL

Bayley replied that it was always a possibility, but never the plan. She added that if it were up to her, she would still be a part of Damage CTRL. She also said that she would have called up two girls from NXT if she were starting the group again from scratch.

“I always thought that was an option, but it was never my plan. If it were up to me, we’d still be together right now,” she said. “But they replaced me with Kairi and Asuka. I think that just shows that what I wanted to do, the vision I had set out, had worked. You know, what I wanted was Dakota and IYO to get that spotlight. I wanted them to be in these big-time matches. I wanted them to get the attention and put everyone on notice because they were too talented not to.

“That’s what’s going on now. I think if it were up to me again, it would have been two other girls. There would have been other girls that I brought with me from NXT, or anybody on the roster that just hadn’t had that chance yet,” she continued. “But I’m very proud of Damage CTRL. I wish that we could have done more together, but I’m so proud of how far they came. It looks like they’re going to be doing a lot more, so I think that’s really cool.”
