Damian Priest: As Much As I Accomplished, There’s Still So Much More

Damian Priest has new goals now.

Damian Priest won his first world title at WWE WrestleMania 40. He held the gold until Gunther dethroned him at WWE SummerSlam. Throughout his reign, Priest gradually started getting babyface reactions, as fans started to rally around him. This shift was solidified when Finn Balor turned on him at WWE SummerSlam.

Speaking with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Priest looked forward to the road ahead after his loss.

“As much as I accomplished, there’s still so much more,” Damian Priest said. “My dreams were to wrestle at WrestleMania and win a world title. Now there are new goals. I’m hungrier now than ever.”

Damian Priest On Being A Babyface

Damian Priest also commented on people supporting him now, both as an on-screen character and as a person. He highlighted how having people support him at the premiere of his WWE 24: Damian Priest documentary felt special. Priest then stated that it was cool to gave fans support him because they wanted to.

“I’d seen a rough cut, but watching all of it, it really hit me,” Priest said. “I’ve been hated for so long. There were so many people there at the screening. It felt special. People supporting me, that felt good.

“I’ve been [babyface] before, but it wasn’t always me. This is me. And it’s cool to have people support me not because they’re told to, but because they want to.”

WrestleZone will have coverage of WWE Raw as it airs on August 5.
