The Hardys reportedly met with WWE officials ahead of WWE SummerSlam.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider reports that Matt and Jeff Hardy met with WWE officials in Cleveland on August 2. There is no word on what was discussed. However, Johnson writes that there was word of some content being filmed and rolled out on WWE digital platforms.
Update: Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select) reported an update. He wrote that, in reaching out to The Hardys, it was confirmed that they were in town for WrestleCon anyway, and they were invited to film interviews and content. It was noted that some of the content was for active series, as well as the “potential of Hardy-specific presentations.”
Sapp also wrote that WWE sources said that there wasn’t much to read into it. However, sources outside the company expressed their belief that they would end up making an appearance.
Matt and Jeff are set for the TNA tapings over the weekend. Matt Hardy is also scheduled to face Nick Gage at GCW Now And Forever on August 2.
The Hardys Tease Coming After NXT Tag Titles
Matt and Jeff Hardy have both returned to TNA in recent months. Matt returned at TNA Rebellion in April. Jeff then followed with his own comeback at TNA Against All Odds. Given TNA’s ongoing collaboration with WWE, specifically with NXT, some fans have wondered whether they could be involved. The duo recently spoke with Bill Apter for Sportskeeda WrestleBinge and discussed the possibility.
“In wrestling, never say never,” Matt Hardy said. “I will say that the NXT Tag Team Titles are not on our list of titles that we’ve won, so we are interested in that. I think this crossover between NXT and TNA is great. It’s exciting, it’s unpredictable. I think that’s a positive for the business and the industry.”
Matt Hardy previously left WWE in 2020. Likewise, WWE released Jeff Hardy in 2021. Both brothers had a run in AEW and left the company in 2024.
WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
