A new report details the process of Las Vegas securing the right to host WWE WrestleMania 41.
As previously announced, WWE WrestleMania 41 will be held at Allegiant Stadium on April 19-20m 2025. Minneapolis had long been the front-runner for the show, but Las Vegas gained momentum in the hunt and landed the event.
Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics chronicled this process and provided public records about it. Thurston writes that these records confirmed the report that WWE was “getting a $5 million grant” from the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA). The records show that the deal came together less than two months before the official announcement.
Thurston also notes that it seems like WWE will get “rent-free use of the LVCVA’s Las Vegas Convention Center West Hall.” The venue could potentially be the host of WWE World.
More Details About WWE WrestleMania 41
Furthermore, Thurston details the communications between the Executive Director of the Detroit Sports Commission, David Beachnau, and LVCVA Senior Director of Sports and Special Events Lisa Motley, in 2023 regarding the latter’s experience with WWE. Motley was seemingly a key figure in Las Vegas landing WWE WrestleMania 41.
Thurston’s report notes that as late as February, Motley wrote to others that the LVCVA was not in discussions about WrestleMania. However, speculation about the possibility ramped up when WWE held the WrestleMania 40 Kickoff event in Las Vegas. Thurston writes that, per email records, Motley set a meeting with Peter Dropick, TKO’s live events coordinator, for March 4.
An employee from Grey, an ad agency, wrote to LVCVA staff, pushing for them to pursue WrestleMania. This employee noted that there still may be room to land a deal before WWE announced the location for WWE WrestleMania 41.
WWE WrestleMania 41 Deal Comes Together
Thurston continues by writing that Motley and LVCVA COO Brian Yost attended WrestleMania 40 and met with WWE staff. The report quotes a message WWE President Nick Khan wrote to the duo. Khan called Las Vegas “the destination spot for massive sporting events.”
The report then cites the pitch deck that was used in the effort to sell Las Vegas on being the host city for WWE WrestleMania 41. This emphasized the impact that the event would have on the local economy. The city was clearly sold, and the deal ultimately came together.
