One of the most popular tag teams in WWE is the current WWE Tag Team Champions Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa, DIY. Recently, “Johnny Wrestling” sat down for an interview with Cageside Seats’ Rick Ucchino on ESPN1530 radio.
During the interview, Gargano reflected on how he and Ciampa managed to capture the WWE Tag Team Championships in Toronto. Johnny Gargano shared that Triple H is someone who never forgets history and loves to capitalize on the opportunity of history repeating itself.
“I think just we’re living in a time period where long-term stories are able to be told now. And history is not being [forgotten]. History is being embraced.” Gargano said. “And then literally [Toronto] was coming up on the schedule. We were in the midst of going against Austin and Grayson in this feud. It just ended up working out.”
Johnny Gargano is also very happy about the success he and Ciampa have had on the main roster so far.
“I’m not one of those people that lives in the moment, I’m not someone that appreciates things as they’re here. I’m always like, okay, what’s next? But being able to look back at the past couple months, to be able to be on WrestleMania, to be a current WWE Tag Team Champion as we’re heading into probably the biggest weekend in Cleveland wrestling history, it’s so freaking cool, man.”
Gargano recently reflected on how important Toronto was to his career. He said you could make the argument that no arena has meant more to his WWE career than the Scotiabank Arena (Air Canada Centre) has.
DIY will defend their titles on SmackDown this Friday in Cleveland against The Bloodline.
