In recent months, the relationship between CMLL and All Elite Wrestling has been growing.
Now, the companies have joined forces yet again for the upcoming CMLL Grand Prix. The CMLL Grand Prix is scheduled to take place on the 23rd of August. In the event, there is a twenty-man tag team match. The match is between Team Mexico and Team World. It has been announced that Blackpool Combat Club’s Claudio Castagnoli will be wrestling as part of Team World.
Team Mexico comprises ten of the top talents in Lucha Libre. They are Mistico, Ultimo Guerrero, Templario, Atlantis Jr., Titan, Mascara Dorada, Volador Jr., Esfinge, Euforia, and Valiente. For Team World, stars such as Rocky Romero, Flip Gordon, Kyle Fletcher, Robbie X, Ikuro Kwon, former Ring of Honor World Champion Claudio Castagnoli, Yota Tsuji, former WWE Superstar Mansoor, Akira, and Davey Boy Smith Jr. will all be taking part.
It is also to be noted that not only AEW stars, but also wrestlers from Major League Wrestling will be taking part in the competition.
Former AEW World Heavyweight Champion and current AEW International Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman will also be defending his title in an upcoming CMLL Event. That event is scheduled to take place on the Second of August.
