Britt Baker Discusses Suffering Transient Ischemic Attack

Britt Baker opens up about suffering a Transient Ischemic Attack.

Former AEW Women’s World Champion Britt Baker was absent from AEW for the better part of a year, and she made her return at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door. There, she confronted Mercedes Moné. On the following episode of AEW Dynamite, she opened up about her health issues, as she revealed that she suffered a Transient Ischemic Attack.

Speaking on Close Up with Renee Paquette, Britt Baker discussed her health issues, specifically her Transient Ischemic Attack.

“It was the weirdest thing. I was in Orlando with my hair stylist, Amanda, getting my hair done. I was sitting down, and I just remember I felt sick. Something was off and the room was spinning, and just sick. Nauseous, sweating and just off. Something was not right, and she could tell. She was like, ‘Are you okay?’ She asked me if I needed a water. I said I definitely needed a water, and first thing that came to mind was something with my neck. When I had the spinning and the vertigo, must be something with the neck. She hands me the water, I go to open it, and this side just doesn’t work, my right side. I couldn’t, it was numb. It couldn’t work.

“She saw it and noticed it. We both sort of panicked at the same time, and she’s like, ‘I think you need to go to the hospital.’ I was like, ‘No, I’m okay, let’s just finish my hair,’ which we did. Insane, we finished my hair. It got worse, it got worse, and as soon as we were done, I was like. ‘yeah, I’m gonna go.’ So I actually drove myself to the hospital. It was stupid, I should have not done that.”

Britt Baker On Going To The Hospital

Britt Baker continued by recalling her trip to the hospital and how it was a strange experience. She went on to recall how the T.I.A. was a reality check, as it showed her that she needed to pay attention to her body.

“When you go to the emergency room, I’m sitting there, thinking it’s gonna be hours before I get seen, and they took me in right away,” Britt Baker said. “Over the intercom system, I hear them say, ‘Stroke patient.’ I just told them this whole side is numb. They tested some stuff, and they were looking at my eyes, my reflexes and everything. Put me in a wheelchair, and next thing I know, I’m wheeled back, they’re sticking needles in me, putting all the needles in me to go and get tests, and it was very quick. Next thing I knew, I’m admitted in. I have my own little thing with a pamphlet on being a stroke victim.

“It felt like a minute had gone by since I was getting my hair done and then admitted to the hospital for a week for a T.I.A., a mini-stroke, and it was so weird because you always think this sh*t is not gonna happen to me. What in the world is going on? It was a big reality check that like, you gotta listen to yourself. When you’re stressed, when you’re overwhelmed, mentally, emotionally, physically, you gotta listen to your body and just chill the f*ck out sometimes. Every now and then, we gotta be there for us too. We need to chill, relax.”

Britt Baker On Her Return

Britt Baker was also asked whether anything else had happened after her T.I.A. She noted that was not the case, and she made a full recovery.

“Nothing. Total recovery, and if anything, it just really put me in a good ministry to really focus on me and my body and my mind, my everything and training live a beast,” Britt Baker said. “I’ve been living in the gym. Dr. Brett Chance in Orlando [has been] helping me with all my injuries and getting my body to a point where I can really kill it in the gym.”
