Elias: Undertaker’s Match At WWE Super ShowDown Would Have Gone Better If It Was With Me

The infamous match between The Undertaker and Goldberg was not the original plan, at least according to Elias. He claims that he was initially slated to face The Undertaker.

Speaking with Alistair McGeorge of Metro, former WWE star Elias revealed that he was the one who was initially set to face The Undertaker.

“We did a thing on Monday Night Raw, where I sang a song, he came out, he Tombstoned me and it was the whole thing,” Elias said. “I can remember Vince [McMahon] said, ‘Hey, you’re gonna be working with Taker.’ Taker pulled me aside, he’s like, ‘Hey, man, we’re gonna go do some business at Saudi, we’re gonna have some fun.’

‘And dude, I’m game for anything, I’ll do whatever, I’m ready to have some fun and kill it, you know? I want to make my stamp here and really do something with The Undertaker.”

Elias On Plans Changing

Elias went on to recall how the company ultimately went with Goldberg instead. He noted that he was excited about having a longer storyline with The Undertaker, which never came to be. Elias also shared his belief that the match would have been better if he was The Undertaker’s opponent.

“I think they called in Goldberg. And they had that infamous match in Saudi. And that match is what it is, whatever,” Elias said. “My personal opinion is, it would have went way better with me and [Undertaker] and a lot safer, probably! But, you know, that’s that’s how history goes sometimes.”

Elias reiterated that plans can change “on the drop of a dime”, as his program with The Undertaker was meant to begin on the RAW after WrestleMania 35.
