Stephanie Vaquer is joining WWE.
On July 10, CMLL and NJPW announced that Vaquer had removed herself from the rosters, citing personal reasons. She was stripped of the CMLL World Women’s Championship and the World Women’s Tag Team Championship. Fightful Select then reported that Vaquer was WWE-bound, per sources, and she was backstage at NXT Heatwave.
Later that day, Shawn Michaels tweeted, “Welcome to the WWE Family, @Steph_Vaquer. See you in Orlando.”
This comes alongside Mike Johnson of PWInsider reporting that Stephanie Vaquer had signed with WWE, per a source close to the former CMLL star. Johnson cites a NJPW source who noted that Vaquer had “signed elsewhere”. Vaquer had been with CMLL since 2019, and she later wrestled for Tokyo Joshi Pro. Vaquer made her NJPW STRONG debut in 2023. She has also wrestled for STARDOM and Revolution Pro, among other companies.
Vaquer reportedly had talks with WWE and AEW recently after she lost the NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship to Mercedes Moné at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.
As of this writing, there is no word on when Stephanie Vaquer will make her WWE debut. WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
