John Cena and CM Punk reunited backstage at WWE Money in the Bank.
John Cena appeared at WWE Money in the Bank and announced his upcoming retirement from WWE. CM Punk also appeared, as he attacked Drew McIntyre after McIntyre cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase.
In a tweet on July 7, WWE shared a clip in which CM Punk spoke with John Cena backstage at WWE Money in the Bank. They briefly caught up before they shook hands and shared a brief embrace.
At the WWE Money in the Bank Post-Show, CM Punk noted that he texted Cena and told him not to leave before they could talk, and Cena jokingly brushed him off. Punk also described what Cena meant to his career and said he wanted to face him one last time.
CM Punk and John Cena clashed several times during Punk’s first WWE run. They had a classic feud in 2011 that included Punk beating Cena to win the WWE Championship at WWE Money in the Bank 2011. Punk returned to WWE at WWE Survivor Series 2023, which came after Cena’s return run wrapped up at WWE Crown Jewel 2023.
