Report: New WWE SmackDown Lead Writer Named

A new head writer of WWE SmackDown has reportedly been named.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select) reports that John Swikata, a longtime WWE creative writer, has been promoted to lead writer on WWE SmackDown. Sapp writes that the news ahs been confirmed with numerous people in the company. Per Sapp, Swikata replaces Ryan Callhan, who sources said parted ways with WWE.

Sapp writes that Swikata had worked as a senior writer in the company, and little else is known about him, other than the fact that he has been with the company for years.

Additionally, Sapp cites a WWE source who said that Swikata has already made a “huge impact”. They pointed to the creative direction fans saw with the June 21 episode of SmackDown.
