The Undertaker Reacts To Fans Fact-Checking Him During Shows

The Undertaker has fans correcting him a lot during his shows now.

The WWE Hall of Famer has switched the ring for the microphone in recent years. Despite never being famed for his work on the microphone, usually just uttering “Rest in Piece” occasionally, he has started his own podcast and embarked on speaking tours around the world.

During these shows, The Undertaker sometimes makes mistakes. While the stories are true, he forgets the exact dates and times of events. Luckily, some eagle-eyed fans are there to correct him and put The Deadman straight.

The Undertaker spoke with Chris Van Vliet about this recently. He told a tale about how one fan in Australia would correct him on stage, and it quickly became a joke in the show. He cites age and concussions as to why his memory isn’t quite perfect any more.

“I’m horrible—I’m absolutely horrible with dates and all that, and I will butcher it completely. The story will be accurate, but the dates of when it happened or maybe what pay-per-view or premium live event… I’ll screw it up every time. And you know how wrestling audiences are. Their fans are, you know. And I’m trying—I think it was Australia—and I would say something. This guy in the front row would be like, ‘That was ’94, it was ‘In Your House’ or whatever.'”

“I would say, ‘Oh, okay, thanks.’. So I would go on and tell another story like that. I’d get to a point where I couldn’t remember. I just turned to him, and it became a running joke in the show. I was like, ‘Hey, that time I worked with Bret Hart in the UK, it was when?’ And then he’d give it to me like that. I’m like, ‘Dude, you need to get a life, ’cause I live this stuff and I don’t remember it!’ It’s crazy, but it is crazy how much and how quick they will fact-check.”

“If I say something on the podcast, they’ll say, ‘Hey, you got that wrong because this guy said it was…’ and I looked it up, and I was like, ‘Well, look, I can’t remember at all, man. I’ve got a few concussions and I’ve got a few years on me, and I just can’t remember at all.'”
