WWE SmackDown Results – June 14, 2024

This week’s episode of WWE SmackDown kicks off with in-ring action.

Noami (w/ Bayley) defeated Chelsea Green (w/ Piper Niven)

  • Naomi reversed Chelsea Green’s Unprettier into a pinfall victory.

Piper Niven checked on Green following the match while Naomi and Bayley celebrated at ringside.

They air a recap video of Apollo Crews being attacked by Legado del Fantasma last week and unable to compete. Legado shows up in Nick Adlis’ office and interrupts his conversation with Baron Corbin. Santos Escobar calls Corbin a charity, and he leaves before Aldis tells Legado that someone in the group will be paying a fine for ruining his show last week.

Aldis states if this happens again, a fine will be the least of their problems. Santos Escobar says he’ll make up for ruining his show last week by taking on Apollo Crews later tonight. Aldis agrees.

A video package plays for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill.

A countdown to Bo Dallas/Uncle Howdy’s WWE RAW return flashes on the screen as The Grayson Waller Effect kicks off. Grayson Waller says they couldn’t fly the plants in because not even the plants want to be in the country. Waller says it doens’t matter what they chant because he speaks English and he doesn’t understand them. Waller introduces their guests, Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa.

Controversy on the Grayson Waller Effect

Gargano and Ciampa tossed their chair out of the ring. Waller says they are glad it was a small chair because they are acting like children. Ciampa says he can see what they’re doing and asks why Austin Theory’s name isn’t also on the show. Waller says this show existed before he and Theory got together, and it would be too expensive to change it now. Waller says he would take a bullet for Theory.

Gargano plays footage from last week of Waller pulling Theory into harm’s way to eat a dive from Gargano on SmackDown. Waller asks who put that footage up and says it wasn’t real and that it was AI. Waller says they didn’t show the footage of him winning because they are champions for a reason—they do what it takes.

Ciampa says no one here paid to see the Grayson Waller Effect; they came to see DIY face A-Town Down Under for the titles tonight. Waller says they are just like everyone else, coming after their titles and trying to drive a wedge between him and Theory. Gargano says they are coming for their titles, but he’s sick of hearing from Waller; he wants to hear from Theory.

Johnny Gargano says he and Theory go way back, and he’s always believed in him. Gargano says it kills him to see him like this because Waller is using him. Before Gargano can continue, Waller attacks him. During the brawl, both Gargano and Ciampa accidentally hit Theory thanks to moves from Waller. Ciampa and Gargano pose next to the titles to end the segment.

The Street Profits and B-Fab approach Kevin Owens backstage to tell him they have his back in his match against Solo Sikoa tonight. Kevin Owens seems very happy about it.

The WWE SmackDown backstage area can be dangerous at times

Grayson Waller is backstage with Austin Theory, trying to convince him that Gargano and Ciampa aren’t good guys. Bayley and Naomi walk out in front of them, and the camera follows them. They are still celebrating their win from earlier. They run into Blair Davenport, who tries to get under Naomia’s skin, but Bayley calms her down and tells her she’s not worth it.

Bayley thanked Naomi for having her back recently. Naomi says of course and asks for a hug. Chelsea Green shows up and tells them to enjoy it while it lasts because tomorrow, they are taking away Bayley’s title. Piper Niven shows up and lays out both women.

Santos Escobar (w/ Legado del Fantasma) defeated Apollo Crews

  • Baron Corbin comes out early and attacks Legado at ringside to even the odds for Apollo Crews. But Elektra Lopez distracts Crews, and Santos Escobar rolls him up to score the pinfall victory.

A package airs recapping the rivalry between Cody Rhodes and AJ Styles ahead of their “I Quit” match tomorrow at Clash at the Castle. Rhodes and Styles go face-to-face next!

Things get personal between Cody Rhodes and AJ Styles on WWE SmackDown

Cody Rhodes comes to the ring and asks Glasgow what they want to talk about. Rhodes says he actually believed AJ Styles a few weeks ago when he said he was going to retire and not be one of those guys just looking for one more match, one more opportunity. Rhodes says AJ is starting to become that guy.

Cody says AJ has been given the impossible task of making him say he quits. AJ Styles comes to the ring with Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows but stays in the aisle. Styles says it’s funny that Cody is all worked up about this, and it was very easy to make it happen by pretending to retire, and Rhodes would lose his cool.

Rhodes asks AJ why he’s so far away and tells him to leave Gallows and Anderson behind and face him in the ring man to man. Styles gets in the ring as he tells the fans to shut up because they are chanting and making A LOT of noise. Styles says he and Cody are nothing alike. AJ reminds everyone that it took him 17 years to get to WWE, and the crowd tells Styles to “shut the f*ck up.”

Styles says Rhodes has quit every company he’s ever performed in

AJ says WWE welcomed him with open arms and couldn’t wait to make him a star, but when it got tough for him, he quit WWE, and he also quit New Japan Pro-Wrestling and Ring of Honor. Styles says this man helped start up a company and he quit that too. Styles says Cody can’t handle the pressure, and when the going gets tough, Cody Rhodes gets going.

Rhodes says he’s made some big decisions in his career and walked away from WWE, New Japan, and ROH, but he didn’t quit; he believed in himself. Cody says if he hadn’t walked away, he wouldn’t be standing there right now as WWE Champion. Rhodes says if anyone quits, AJ quits on himself. Cody says it took Styles pretending he was Mark Henry for a night to get another title shot.

Rhodes says Styles will have a bitter pill to swallow when he makes him say he quits. Styles says its really easy for Cody to say he quits, but he can’t quit being phenomenal. Styles says his family wants him to quit, but he’ll be done when he says he’s done. AJ says he saw Rhodes compete with a torn pec and didn’t quit, but he’s not Seth Rollins, he’s AJ Styles, and he’ll do whatever it takes to win the WWE Championship.

Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa attack the Street Profits backstage. Security and Aldis separate the situation and prevent Kevin Owens from chasing after Solo Sikoa, who just watched the attack go down before walking away.

A video package plays hyping up the tag team of Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark.

Tiffany Stratton joins the commentary team for the next match.

Nia Jax defeated Michin

  • Nia Jax hits Michin with the Annihilator to score the pinfall victory.

Kevin Owens is backstage and asks for an update on The Street Profits. He says they won’t be available to help him tonight. Owens says he’s faced The Bloodline alone before, and he’ll do it again now.

Logan Paul arrived at his home earlier in the day to find LA Knight in his pool. Knight left and told Paul he’d see him in Chicago next week.

Carmelo Hayes is in the crowd and buries LA Knight, flying to Puerto Rico to swim in Logan Paul’s pool. The crowd quickly tires of him and tells him to “shut the f*ck up” too. Hayes says he doesn’t have to beg for opportunities because he has a Money in the Bank qualifier match next week, and when it’s all said and done, people will call him Melo in the Bank.

Nick Aldis approaches The Bloodline backstage and informs them that Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa are banned from ringside, and if either of them shows up, all three men are suspended. Paul Heyman tries to be the voice of reason with Solo Sikoa. Sikoa tells Heyman if he loses this match to Kevin Owens tonight, he’s coming after him. Heyman looks terrified.

Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn go out into the aisleway for an interview with Jackie Redmond. Fyre says she and Isla Dawn will make history tomorrow in Glasgow. Isla Dawn says they didn’t come all the way home just to come home, and tomorrow they will be the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions at Clash at the Castle.

It’s time… for the main event!

Solo Sikoa (w/ Paul Heyman) defeated Kevin Owens

  • Kevin Owens hits Solo Sikoa with a Stunner, but Paul Heyman puts Sikoa’s foot on the ropes. Owens goes after Heyman outside but is attacked by Sikoa, who puts him in the ring and hits him with a Samoan Spike to score the pinfall victory.

The Bloodline attacks after the match, which leads to the return of Randy Orton, who shows up to save Kevin Owens as WWE SmackDown goes off the air.
