A new report provides an update on UFC’s potential involvement at NXT Battleground.
NXT will hold NXT Battleground at the UFC Apex on June 9. WWE and UFC merged to form TKO in September 2023, and this will be the most substantial collaboration between the two to date. On the June 4 episode of WWE NXT, Josh Barnett, Thiago Alves and other UFC/MMA fighters appeared in taped messages to promote the NXT Underground match between Lola Vice and Shayna Baszler at NXT Battleground.
Corey Brennan of Fightful (via Fightful Select) reports that sources in NXT expect “a heavy UFC presence” at the premium live event on June 9. Per Brennan, the UFC Octagon was pitched for use. However, this would cause logistical issues, as noted by production sources. For this reason, it was unlikely to occur.
