Evan Husney Discusses The Rock’s Involvement In ‘Who Killed WCW?’

Writer and producer Evan Husney, best known for his work on the Dark Side Of The Ring series, recently opened up about The Rock‘s involvement in Who Killed WCW?

Husney’s new series, Who Killed WCW?, will premiere on VICE on June 4. Speaking with Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, Husney discussed The Rock’s involvement. Husney worked with Dwayne Johnson’s production company, Seven Bucks, to make the project. (H/t Fightful for the transcription)

“We thought maybe we could do it like, you know, the final years of WCW as a subject. It started, we just got so excited with this idea that we’re like, wait, maybe this could be its own series for television,” Husney said. “Then we’d done Tales from the Territories with Seven Bucks, Dwayne Johnson’s production company. VICE wanted to continue that collaboration.

“So just kind of these two perfect things like, ‘Well, what about this? Would you guys be interested in doing this doc about the sort of the last years of WCW?’ Seven Bucks was all on board, VICE was all on board. Then we were off to the races. We only started filming it in December. So it’s a very quick turnaround.”
