Mercedes Moné Reflects On In-Ring Return, Praises Willow Nightingale

Mercedes Moné calls Willow Nightingale one of the best she has ever been in the ring with.

At AEW Double or Nothing, Mercedes Moné beat Willow Nightingale to win the TBS Championship. This marked her first match since she lost to Nightingale at NJPW Resurgence in May 2023. Moné suffered a severe ankle injury that threatened her career in that match.

Speaking with TMZ Sports, Mercedes Moné discussed her return to the ring.

“I’ve been so honored, so blessed, so thankful that I’m back wrestling, back doing what I love, and I’m now the face of TBS and the new TBS Champion,” Mercedes Moné said. “Willow is the one that I suffered my injury with one year ago. Took me out for a whole year. The doctors said they were not sure if I’m gonna be back in wrestling, but I told them, ‘No, this is my life, this is my dream.’ Nobody can tell me no, I can’t do it.

“I fought so hard to get back. Willow had something that I wanted, and I told her that Moné changes everything. This past Sunday, we went out there and we stole the show. We tore it out of the park, and she is legit one of the best that I’ve ever been in the ring with, and I definitely can’t wait to tie it in the ring with her again.”
