Swerve Strickland says that there has never been a more likely time for AEW and WWE to work together than now.
Swerve Strickland previously worked for WWE and had a prominent run in NXT. After a brief run on SmackDown, the company released him in a wave of cuts in 2021. He signed with AEW in March 2022. He has since become one of the company’s top stars. Strickland now reigns supreme as the AEW World Champion.
Speaking on The Bootleg Kev Podcast, AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland was asked about the possibility of the company working with WWE.
“If there’s ever a time it could happen, now is more likely than it’s ever been,” he said. “I don’t think either person [in charge] is opposed, but if there’s ever a time, as far as Tony Khan and Triple H, I don’t think there’s ever been a time that’s more likely than now. The percentage went from 0.04 to maybe 2.4, and that’s more than we’ve ever gotten.”
Swerve Strickland is set to defend his title against Roderick Strong on the June 5 episode of AEW Dynamite. More information is available here.
