Ethan Page claims he isn’t signed to NXT, despite appearing on this week’s show.
The former AEW star made a shocking appearance on NXT this week. He attacked NXT Champion Trick Williams. This signalled his intention to go for the NXT title in the coming weeks.
Jordynne Grace also turned up on NXT this week. The TNA Knockout’s Champion signalled the start of a relationship between NXT and TNA, which Page could have feasibly been a part of. He is a former tag team champion in TNA, as he teamed with Josh Alexander as “The North”.
However, “All Ego” claims he is not actually signed to the WWE. In a video posted to Twitter, Ethan Page claimed he was not signed with NXT, and is awaiting a call from the company to sign a deal.
“Everybody saw what I did last night. Literally, everybody. We’re talking millions of views across all social platforms. That’s pretty heavy. I’d even say that it’s a bit of buying power for Ethan Page. Especially because, contrary to popular belief, Ethan Page has not signed with any company, or any contract.
“And I’m gonna just assume that Trick Williams would love to get a little payback and revenge on Ethan Page — so NXT I’m gonna leave this one to you. The ball is in your court and All Ego is all ears.
“I’m gonna assume somebody in that company has my number. I’ll wait for the call.”
Obviously, this is all part of the storyline. The company is unlikely to feature him without signing a deal, and the “unsigned free agent attacking the champion” is a trope that has been used in wrestling for decades.
Fightful Select reported that Ethan Page has indeed signed a contract with WWE, showing that it is just a storyline.
