US Government Issues Stay In Case Against Vince McMahon, Janel Grant’s Attorney Comments

It sounds like things are going to get even worse for Vince McMahon in 2024.

The ongoing lawsuit between Janel Grant and Vince McMahon has been a big topic of conversation this year, but that lawsuit has been placed on hold for the time being for something potentially much bigger.

Earlier this afternoon, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York officially filed a notice of appearance in Ms. Grant’s case against Vince McMahon, WWE, and John Laurinaitis. Grant was granted a stay in her case pending a non-public investigation.

The attorney for Janel Grant, Ann Callis, issued the following statement on the record regarding this change.

“Ms. Grant has consented to a request by the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York to stay her case against Mr. McMahon, WWE and Mr. Laurinaitis, pursuant to a pending non-public investigation,” Ann Callis said. “We will cooperate with all appropriate next steps.”

For those wondering what this possibly means, last July, McMahon was served with a grand jury subpoena and search warrant. Things have been quiet on that front since then, but it appears the Feds have quietly been building an investigation about the former WWE owner and don’t want the current ongoing lawsuit to impede their case until it has concluded.

UPDATE: Vince McMahon’s lawyer reached out to WrestleZone this afternoon with the following statement:

“We remain confident the evidence will prove Ms. Grant’s allegations are false and her complaint is nothing more than a fabricated, vindictive narrative from a disgruntled former girlfriend.”
