Gangrel helped Adam Copeland retain the TNT Championship at AEW Double or Nothing.
At AEW Double or Nothing, Malakai Black challenged Adam Copeland for the TNT Championship in a Barbed Wire Steel Cage match. Their feud has quickly escalated, as Black has tried to bring out Copeland’s dark side, while Copeland has leaned into his past as he gave Black a bloodbath. The stakes were especially high, as Copeland would have to “bend the knee” to the House of Black.
Copeland had a special “Brood” entrance, including using “South of Heaven” by Slayer as his theme.
The match was a bloody battle, as expected. Copeland and Black busted each other open with the barbed wire. Black slammed Copeland through a table, and he also had some help as Buddy Matthews and Buddy Matthews interfered. The match turned into a three-on-one situation, but Gangrel made a surprise appearance as he came up from under the ring. He attacked King and Matthews, and Copeland proceeded to put Black away with a Spear.
The match marked a special reunion for Copeland and Gangrel, as they were previously paired up together in The Brood.
Here’s how the match broke down, courtesy of our play-by-play results:
Black kicks Copeland and sends him crashing through the cage door. Copeland hits a Spear on the floor. Buddy Matthews and Malakai Black come out and tease turning on Black before they attack Copeland.
Back in the ring, the House of Black gangs up on Copeland. The lights turn red, and the dark music starts playing. Gangrel comes out of the canvas and attacks King and Matthews. Black drops Gangrel, but Copeland hits him with a Spear. He wraps barbed wire around Black and locks in a crossface until Black passes out.
