Owen Hart will once again be honored by All Elite Wrestling this year with the Owen Hart Foundation Memorial Tournament.
Two years ago, All Elite Wrestling teamed up with Owen Hart’s family to honor the legendary performer with a tournament featuring his namesake.
According to Heath McCoy of the Calgary Herald, not only will the tournament return in 2024, but the finals will once again take place in Calgary on July 10 during a dual taping of Dynamite and Collision.
Martha Hart, who will be present once again for the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament Finals, told McCoy that for years, there was no way to celebrate her husband’s career because WWE had monopolized the industry. But she trusts AEW to do so.
“For years, there was no way to celebrate Owen’s career because WWE monopolized the business, and I would never work with them under any circumstances,” Marth Hart said. “[I trust AEW] to highlight, promote, and honor Owen’s wrestling legacy. We are now working together to ensure that legacy continues.”
AEW’s Chris Jericho also commented, stating that the company has been able to show him in a positive, respectful light.
“We’ve worked with Martha to have him shown in a positive, respectful light as an influential talent,” Chris Jericho said. “It’s great for Owen’s legacy and for the foundation, and that’s what Martha always cared about. Through the foundation, she was able to take this horrible tragedy and turn it into a huge positive. We wanted to build on that.”
