WWE is seemingly set to expand their current deal with Saudi Arabia soon, per TKO President and COO Mark Shapiro.
WWE signed a ten-year deal with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 2018, and the agreement has already expanded, as WWE now hosts two premium live events there every year.
Speaking at the JPMorgan Global Technology, Media and Communications Conference Monday, TKO President and COO Mark Shapiro noted that they are looking to expand that deal, and Nick Khan is leading those talks. (H/t Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics)
“If we’re going to bring this show to town, we are looking for an incentive package,” Mark Shapiro said. “Doesn’t always have to be straight cash. But it has to be a significant incentive package because once again, demand is outstripping supply. So you’ve seen us monetize site fees with the likes of Saudi Arabia for WWE.
“You can look for us to expand our current deal in the next 6 to 12 months. Very happy with MBS and the partnership we have there. We have two events a year. But we’re already in discussions, Nick Khan is leading that for us, in expanding that to more events.”
This comes after Turki Alalshikh, chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, said that an “enhancement” to the deal will be announced this month.
