Damian Priest says the crowd at WWE Backlash France set the standard, and he thinks Puerto Rico will top it.
WWE held Backlash in Puerto Rico in 2023, and the electric crowd made the show even more special. The same could be said of WWE Backlash France, as the audience at the premium live event has been viewed as the star of the show. Damian Priest competed in high-profile bouts at both shows.
Speaking on Squared Circle Pit, Damian Priest compared the crowds and noted that France edged out Puerto Rico. However, he said that he’d expect Puerto Rico to top it next time. (H/t Andrew Thompson of POST Wrestling for the transcription)
“Man, it hurts me to say it but I gotta pick France (over Puerto Rico in terms of Backlash crowds,” Damian Priest said. “That was something special but that’s not to dog out the island. The island did its thing and they set the table for France to do that. Now, when we go back to P.R., I fully expect Puerto Rico to top that. I think it’s gonna be a one-upmanship type of thing.
“Without Puerto Rico, I don’t know if that crowd would have done the exact same thing. I’m still sure they would have been on fire but I don’t know (if) it would have been the way that they outshined every other event so, the ball’s in your court Puerto Rico. I’m expecting us to take the number one spot again.
Damian Priest recently agreed to give Drew McIntyre a world title shot. More information is available here.
