Report: Chuck Taylor’s Injury Is Legitimate, Update On His Future

Chuck Taylor’s injury is legitimate, according to a new report.

On the April 27 episode of AEW Rampage, Chuck Taylor faced Trent Beretta in a Parking Lot Fight. This marked Taylor’s first match since October 2023. Trent emerged victorious and smashed Taylor’s leg during a post-match attack. On the following episode of AEW Dynamite, Orange Cassidy stated that Taylor would never wrestle again. Beretta subsequently said that Chuck needed surgery.

In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that Chuck Taylor’s injury is legitimate, and the current belief is that he won’t be able to wrestle again.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select) then reported that Taylor’s injury was not just part of the storyline. He noted that, at the moment, there are no plans for Taylor to wrestle again.

Additionally, Sapp writes that Chuck Taylor knew about the extent of his injuries when he faced Beretta on AEW Rampage. The report cites AEW sources who noted that Taylor wanted to have the match, as it could have been his last. Sapp also states that Taylor has been training as a coach/producer.

Taylor has been wrestling since 2002. He has worked for CHIKARA, PWG, EVOLVE, ROH, and NJPW, among other promotions. He has been with AEW since 2019. Taylor is a two-time PWG World Champion and a former EVOLVE Tag Team Champion.

WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
