Avenged Sevenfold Wrote An Entrance Theme For Mr. Kennedy In WWE, But It Ultimately Got Shelved

Johnny Christ has confirmed the rumors that Avenged Sevenfold wrote a song for Mr. Kennedy.

Ken Kennedy was a key figure in the WWE in the mid-2000s. As a former Money in the Bank winner, he was destined for world championship glory. Kennedy was also being positioned in a storyline where he became Vince McMahon’s son. However, that was nixed at the last second due to numerous factors.

Avenged Sevenfold bassist Johnny Christ recently appeared on the Drinks With Jake Podcast. He revealed how the band wrote a song for then-WWE star Mr. Kennedy, who was a fan of the band at the time.

He noted that the band wrote an original piece for Mr Kennedy, which incorporated his usual “Mr……Kennedy” catchphrase he used in his WWE entrance.

“Back in, I want to say 2006 or 2007, Ken Kennedy was one of the things over, you know. Evidently, he was a fan, had reached out, or someone, there was a fan, I don’t quote me, this is many, you know, this is 20 years ago almost now, of how exactly it came to us. But we recorded and wrote an original piece for him to come out to. It definitely had the “Mr Kennedy!” thing in it and everything.”

Warner Music And WWE Were The Reason Why Their Song Never Came To Light

Avenged Sevenfold’s song they wrote for Mr Kennedy has never seen the light of day. However, that is not because of the band’s reluctance to share their work.

Johnny Christ revealed how the band lost the song years ago, and that it was not released due to contract issues between WWE and Warner Media.

“It’s funny because last year, I went to WrestleMania when it was here at SoFi and ran into John Hammer, who works with the music department of WWE and he’s a fan. Me and Shadows were there together with our kids and he came over to our suite, we were talking, and he remembered that. He was like, ‘Yeah, nice!’ And he was like, ‘You know what? I think I still have it.'”

“Me and Matt were like, ‘Oh my God, I haven’t heard it in years.’ None of us could find it anymore, like, where it was. And we listened back to it on his phone, like ear to ear, where there’s like stuff going on behind us. But yeah, no, that rumor is absolutely true. I wish we could find the original of it. Unfortunately, it was a thing between Warner Music and WWE.”

“They couldn’t come to an agreement on the contract or the rights to the song at the time. You know, for whatever reason. I mean, the people who were there at the time aren’t even working for Warner anymore, and probably not many of them in WWE working there anymore that had those negotiations. But unfortunately, it never came through.”
