Gable Steveson has some opportunities in front of him following his WWE release, as his manager says NFL teams have reached out.
On May 4, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer reported that WWE released Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson.
Speaking on The MMA Hour, Ariel Helwani read a statement from Gable Steveson’s manager.
“Gable Steveson is very grateful for the opportunities he had with WWE and would like to thank everybody in the organization who helped him get there. He would also like to thank all the fans for supporting him on his professional wrestling journey. Now, Gable is ready to resume competing against elite-level competition and looks forward to sharing big news with you all very soon.”
Helwani went on to note that Gable Steveson’s manager said that multiple NFL teams had reached out to the Olympian. It was also noted that he has been training at Kill Cliff FC, an MMA gym.
Steveson signed with WWE in 2021 and made a few appearances on TV. He had a brief run in NXT, where he made his in-ring debut at NXT Great American Bash. There, he and Baron Corbin faced each other. The match ended in a double count-out. Steveson also wrestled several dark matches. He has not had a match since February 2024.
Steveson’s release came at an inopportune time, as it came too late for him to be able to compete at the U.S. Olympic trials.
WrestleZone will provide more information about Gable Steveson’s future as it becomes available.
