Heath Slater Has ‘6 Or 7 Years’ Left To Compete, Made It Cool To Have Kids In Wrestling

Heath Slater does not appreciate Christian Cage calling himself the father of the year.

Slater became the first ever Smackdown Tag Team Champion after struggling to provide for his children. Both Raw and Smackdown failed to draft him 2016, leading to Slater complaining and shouting “I got kids!”. He needed the job to provide for his kids, which got him over as a big babyface in the WWE.

However, with Christian Cage now claiming to the father of the year, Heath Slater has some words for the AEW star.

Heath Slater spoke with Triggered Wrestling, and was asked about who the real father of the year was. He replied that it was him, and that Christian even beats his kids on national TV.

When asked who the father of the year in wrestling is, Slater replied:

“Me, brother. He ever mentioned his kid? Have you even seen his kids on TV? Does he have a shirt that says ‘I got kids’? He beat his kids on national TV, brother. I’m the one that made it cool to have kids in wrestling. I did! Where’s my trophy? Give me my flowers. I need the number one dad title.”

Heath Slater Has 6 or 7 Years Left In Wrestling

Heath Slater continued. He was asked about his future plans in wrestling, and what he wanted to do next. Slater confirmed that he had “6 or 7 years left” in wrestling, and just wants to have fun and be more at home for the rest of his career.

“I’ve been in the game for a long time. I’ve done a lot in the time I’ve been here. I’m at the point where I think I’m at a crossroads. I just want to have fun, but then again, I have a good six to seven more years left, you know? But it’s like I want to have some fun right now because I never got to. I’ve always been underneath the thumb or whatever, but now I get to do what I want when I want, how I want.”

“I’m home a lot more, I’m with my kids a lot more, I’m coaching flag football. My wife’s a tattoo artist, my kids are in school, doing a lot of stuff. So it’s like I’m being involved a lot with them because I missed out on a lot before. That’s what’s up. Will I go somewhere else? Yes. Have I had offers? Yes. Has the money and the communication been exactly where I wanted? No.”
