Kenny Omega had an eventful return to AEW on the May 1 episode of AEW Dynamite.
At the end of the May 1 episode of AEW Dynamite, Kenny Omega made his return for the first time since December. He had been sidelined due to diverticulitis since December, and he opened up about his health issues on Wednesday.
Omega said that he was 23 hours away from dying, and he spent days in the hospital. He recalled how doctors told him that if he did not get the issue handled, he would have a ticking time bomb in his abdomen, and taking trauma to the stomach could kill him.
The former AEW World Champion detailed how his hands would shake, and he had to stop watching the product. He noted that he felt scared, but he watched AEW Dynasty, and he realized that he was going through withdrawal, as he needed to be in the ring.
Omega then promised the fans that this wasn’t over until he had exhausted every option, so they weren’t done with him yet.
Kenny Omega’s Showdown With The Elite
Kenny Omega then turned his attention to The Young Bucks, who had attacked Tony Khan and taken over the company. He made it clear that he did not approve, and as a fellow EVP, part of the power was his until someone said otherwise.
Kazuchika Okada of The Elite came out, and Kenny Omega noted that they had a lot of history. He told Okada to give him a few months, and they could settle it in the ring. Okada said that he was the Best Bout Machine, not Omega. Jack Perry blindsided Omega, and even with his injuries, he took the fight to Perry and Okada. But they overwhelmed him, and Perry hit Omega with a chair.
The Young Bucks came down and hit Omega with an EVP Trigger. Okada went to attack Omega again, but FTR ran down and made the save.
Omega was taken out on a stretcher, and he was about to get loaded into an ambulance. The Elite then blindsided FTR backstage. Matthew Jackson told Omega that it was just business before The Elite dumped him off the stretcher.
