Booker T: Trick Williams Isn’t Ready For WWE Main Roster, Will Be A Generational Talent

WWE Hall of Famer Booker T says Trick Williams is not ready for the main roster right now, but he sees big things in his future.

Trick Williams has quickly become one of NXT’s top stars, and he will challenge Ilja Dragunov for the NXT Championship at NXT Spring Breakin’.

Speaking with Graham GSM Matthews for WrestleRant, Booker T was asked about Trick Williams’ progress in NXT.

“Man, Trick has had a meteoric rise,” Booker T said. “That’s one thing about wrestling, it’s subjective to the person that’s watching it. I never really look at that side of it because I really wasn’t that great of a wrestler myself [laughs]. I just act like I was a good wrestler [laughs]. But Trick Willams, he’s done something so captivating, and being able to connect with that crowd. That crowd wants to see Trick win. They want to see him come up. Just because of that charisma that he displays on a weekly basis. He’s a good dude as well. His wrestling, that’s gonna come.

“I talk to Trick Williams all the time about that aspect of his game, and that’s not something that happens overnight. Trick Williams has had literally, you could count just about on both hands how many Trick Williams has had in the ring on television. So for me, Trick is a diamond in the rough. But trust me, once we polish him up, he’s gonna shine, and he’s gonna shine like new money. Right now, he’s doing a hell of a job as far as creating his aura in NXT.”

Booker T: Give Trick Williams Time In NXT

Booker T went on to explain that he did not think that Trick Williams was ready for the WWE main roster. However, he predicted that Williams would grow into a generational talent once he had time to grow.

“By the time he gets to that next level, and I can say this, is Trick Williams ready for the main roster right now? Me personally, I don’t think so,” Booker T said. “But that’s what NXT is for, to get these young guys ready for that next level, just like Carmelo Hayes.

“For the last two years, he’s been grinding. Give Trick Williams that same amount of time and see how this young man develops. He is truly going to be a generational talent in this business that hasn’t come along in a long time.”
