WWE WrestleMania 40 was a record-breaking success. Just over a week later, the host city has made it clear that they want to run it back.
WWE held WrestleMania 40 at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The two-night event smashed records. The company hyped it up as their most successful event ever.
Emma Dooling of the Philadelphia Business Journal reports that, per PHL Sports division executive director Larry Needle, the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau plans to petition to have WrestleMania return soon. He stated that the organization would start talks with WWE in the “not too distant future.”
“This is such a highly-coveted event that we know there’s a long line of cities clamoring to host, and that’s just the reality of an event of this magnitude,” Needle said. “But needless to say, we would be thrilled to have WrestleMania back, and at the right time we will engage in those conversations with the WWE.”
WrestleMania 40 Was A Big Success For Philadelphia
Needle went on to note that the final numbers were still being put together. However, hotels and restaurants in Philadelphia “did well” over WrestleMania weekend. Per Dooling, the Convention and Visitors Bureau estimates that approximately 85% of fans attending WrestleMania activities were coming from outside of the city and the surrounding area.
Additionally, Needle noted that WrestleMania 40 provided “priceless” lessons. He stated that these will be beneficial as the city prepares to host big events in 2026.
“We’re just going to need to build on this success and learn how to make it even bigger and better, because the magnitude for 2026 is only going to be increasing, and in many cases significantly,” Needle said.
Furthermore, Needle said that the Convention and Visitors Bureau “received positive feedback from WWE” regarding their interactions with the venues throughout the event.
WWE has yet to announce the location for WWE WrestleMania 41. Minneapolis, Minnesota is widely expected to be the host city.
WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
