Kevin Owens wrestles in a t-shirt, despite CM Punk‘s objections.
The Canadian wrestler competed in a fantastic match at WrestleMania 40. He faced Logan Paul and Randy Orton in the United States Championship match, which saw Logan retain his title in a fun bout on night two of the event.
Following the event, Kevin Owens appeared on Busted Open Radio (via Post Wrestling) He spoke about a number of topics, including the fact that he wrestles in a t-shirt every week. He talked to Bully Ray, who himself appeared at WrestleMania as a special guest referee.
Bully Ray said: I always told Kevin that he was the chosen one. He is like the Neo of the shirt guys. He’s gotten farther than anybody else”, to which Owens joked: “I know. I made it in a t-shirt. CM Punk is furious.”
This joke was in reference to an infamous incident from Owens’ time in Ring of Honor. Punk was the head trainer at ROH at the time, and took umbrage with Owens (then known as Kevin Steen) wrestling in a t-shirt.
Clearly, it didn’t hold him back, given Owens’s status as a former World Champion who has main evented WrestleMania, unlike Punk.
Kevin Owens: Me And CM Punk Have No Relationship
Speaking with Gorilla Position ahead of WWE WrestleMania 40, Kevin Owens spoke about his relationship with CM Punk.
He revealed that the pair simply have no relationship, and that is fine.
“Well, we have no relationship,” Kevin Owens said. “No. We’re not each other’s type of people, I don’t think. There’s like a ten-foot vicinity, I’d say, that if we enter in, then we have to kind of, ‘Hey, hi.’ Otherwise, we don’t, and that’s fine. It’s perfectly fine the way it is.
