Cody Rhodes Teases Changes To The WWE Universal Championship If He Wins At WrestleMania XL

Cody Rhodes has big plans for the WWE Universal Championship following WrestleMania XL.

This Sunday night, The American Nightmare will have one last chance to finish his story as he’ll step into the ring with Roman Reigns at WrestleMania XL for the Universal Championship.

The RAW Superstar participated in a panel at WWE World on Thursday (Thanks to WrestlingNews.co for the video). During the panel, Rhodes teased the idea of once again changing the look of the Universal Championship if he manages to win it this weekend.

“Well, I think the type of champion I’d be, for starters, from a logistical standpoint, is I would be on both Monday Night RAW and Friday Night SmackDown,” Cody Rhodes said. “And I don’t know, do you guys like how the title belt itself looks? [Crowd says no]

“Then maybe, again, don’t want to get cart before horse here; I have to beat the greatest champion in the history of our business, Roman Reigns. But if I do, maybe we change how that title looks.

“Really, if I could do anything as champion, I would want you guys to have fun. That is 100% what I’m in the business of doing, making you guys happy, and I’m blessed and honored to do that. So that’s what I look forward to doing, and I hope we have a great weekend, all of us together. Pace yourselves. Enjoy WrestleMania. Take care of each other y’all.”

It’s time to revert back to the WWE Championship

Cody also noted earlier in the panel that he’d also like to change the name of the Universal Championship back to the WWE Championship.

“The belt that ultimately Roman has now that we call the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. Which, if I am to win this thing on Sunday, we are not calling it this long-winded designation,” Cody Rhodes said. “It’s just the WWE Championship.”

Rhodes has teased in the past that he would love to bring back the winged eagle WWE Championship. Perhaps we are days away from this becoming a reality. We’ll find out soon enough.
