Anthony Henry Comments On AEW Release, Unsure If He’ll Wrestle Again

Anthony Henry issues a statement following his release from AEW.

On April 1, reports indicated that a number of talents were released from All Elite Wrestling. Amongst those reportedly released was Anthony Henry, who first appeared on AEW programming in an October 2021 episode of AEW Dark. He later emerged as a regular fixture in AEW’s sister company, Ring of Honor.

Earlier today, Henry confirmed his departure on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “The amount of support I am receiving during this very difficult time is amazing, and I appreciate all of it. I don’t know what is next for me. I don’t know if wrestling is something I still want to pursue, I am devastated. Regardless, I am always a #workhorsemen.”

As implied by his statement, Henry’s runs in AEW and ROH were largely centered around his partnership with JD Drake. Together, the two are known as The WorkHorsemen.

Henry’s last ROH appearance occurred on the March 14 episode of ROH on HonorClub. There, he and Drake defeated Jacoby Watts and Nick Comoroto. Three days before the airing of this tag team match, Henry revealed that he sustained a broken jaw during an indie match against Bryan Keith. As a result, Henry would be rendered unable to compete for a while.
