CM Punk Is ‘Cautiously Optimistic’ About His Injury Timetable

CM Punk seems to think his injury is not as bad as first feared, and is optimistic about his return.

The former WWE Champion returned to the company at Survivor Series last year. AEW fired Punk not long before, making it one of the most shocking WWE returns in years.

He wrestled his first match back at the 2024 Royal Rumble. Punk finished runner-up to Cody Rhodes in the titular match type, but tore his tricep during the bout. It is said to keep him out for months, and he will not wrestle at WrestleMania 40.

CM Punk recently spoke on The MMA Hour about a variety of topics. One of these was about his injury, which he claimed his timeline to return was a “business decision”. Punk said he is cautiously optimistic about returning to the ring, adding that he has something to get back for once his arm is healed.

“I think at this point, it’s more of a business decision. Not to spoil anything, this one is night and day from this one [the injured arm to the healthy arm] for a myriad of different reasons. I’m recovering really, really well.”

“So, cautiously optimistic that it’s gonna be half the time as the left one. And like I said, I got something to come back to. When I did this one, I was like, ‘okay, nobody’s talking to me. I guess I don’t work here any more. Alright, whatever, cool.'”

CM Punk Wants To Make The Difference In WWE

CM Punk continued, noting that he wants to be able to make a difference in the WWE.

He noted that there are some as-yet unveiled PLE’s set to take place in the summer. He wants to make the difference for the WWE for these shows, which could hint towards a Chicago-based show being announced.

“This time, it’s people checking on me and people making appointments for me, and going to the best doctors and doing the best PT, and having a goal to come back to I think mentally helps me a lot. It’s gonna be a business decision.”

“I know there are some big PLE’s they haven’t even announced yet that are coming up over the summer. So it kind of matters. That’s one of the things I told Triple H when I came back – ‘If I can be the difference maker on certain things, that’s why I’m here.’. They don’t even do house shows any more, really. The business has changed to where I think you can save your body a little bit more, and you can extend your career.”
