Bull Nakano Announces Next Sukeban Show & Two New Signees

Bull Nakano spoke with Laura Pitcher of The Cut to discuss the future direction of US-based joshi promotion Sukeban.

As Sukeban’s Commissioner, Bull Nakano spoke on behalf of the company saying that this 2024 would define the promotion’s brand and trajectory. She then announced that Sukeban’s next show will be hosted live in Los Angeles, California this coming May. Other specific details on the upcoming show, however, are yet to be announced publicly. WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes publicly available.

On top of the next show announcement, Bull Nakano also announced two new signings to the Sukeban roster. VENY, the first transgender female wrestler in Japan, will be joining Sukeban soon. She has worked the Japanese independent scene as a freelance wrestler. VENY has also had multiple appearances in various promotions such as SEAdLINNNG, Pro Wrestling WAVE, and Sendai Girls, among others.

The second addition to Sukeban is Konami. She also works in a freelancer role similar to VENY, but she was recently released from a pro-wrestling contract in Tokyo. While the specifics of this contract release remain undisclosed, she will be joining Sukeban soon. Most of Konami’s work include appearances in World Wonder Ring STARDOM, but she has also previously wrestled in Sukeban as a non-signed participant.

Bull Nakano believes that these new signings will help the company reach new heights within the American wrestling industry. “With Sukeban, we can take it further than the U.S. to get to the top of the world. I definitely have big dreams for it,” she adds. She sees it as a major opportunity to expose American audiences to the Japanese women’s wrestling product.
