Nathan Jones Makes Surprise Appearance in John Cena Movie ‘Ricky Stanicky’

Nathan Jones had one of the most surprising movie appearances this year.

The Australian is a former wrestler, who is best known for his short stint in the WWE between 2002 and 2003. Nicknamed “The Colossus of Boggo Road”, Jones was given a push alongside The Undertaker, and helped the Deadman during his match against A-Train and Big Show at WrestleMania XIX.

Jones quit the WWE in December 2003, and has been rarely seen by wrestling fans since that day. However, he has had small parts in a number of movies, including Hobbs & Shaw, Troy and Mad Max: Fury Road.

Nathan Jones also appeared in the movie Ricky Stanicky. The film was released on Amazon Prime on March 7th 2024, and features 16-time WWE Champion John Cena, Zack Efron and a host of comedic talent.

Jones had a small role in the movie. Jones played the part of a man called “Big Ben“. Big Ben is looking for Cena’s character (the titular Ricky Stanicky) during part of the film. This was the first time most fans had seen the 56-year-old on screen in years, especially alongside a fellow wrestler.

Nathan Jones Left WWE Because Of The ‘Rockstar Life’

Nathan Jones left the WWE in 2003, and has stayed away from the company in the decades since.

Jones spoke to Hannibal TV about why he left the WWE, revealing that he did not like the lifestyle of being on the road constantly.

He also noted his favourite moments in the company, which included spinning heel-kicking the Big Show at WrestleMania.

“It was a little bit of a rockstar’s lifestyle. And I’m a home body by nature. So it just didn’t suit me at the time. That’s the way it happens.”

“I remember enjoying Survivor Series, it was a lot of fun. WrestleMania, remember that one? The big spinning heel-kick to the head of Big Show. I thought I’d add that in because people think I can play the giant all the time, and I thought it’d be nice to see someone jump around, and some of us big guys can go, ‘No, we can do… fly around as well.’”
