John Cena: I Have Not Been Asked To Go To WrestleMania 40 Yet

When asked whether he will be at WrestleMania 40, John Cena compares it to prom and says he doesn’t have a date yet, as he has not been asked to go.

16-time world champion John Cena returned to WWE last fall. He had a sustained run during the SAG-AFTRA strike. Cena has been absent since he lost to Solo Sikoa at WWE Crown Jewel, as the strike ended. With WrestleMania 40 rapidly approaching, Cena has teased making an appearance. He has stated that he is free on the first night of the show.

During an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, WrestleMania 40 came up in the conversation, as Barrymore noted that The Rock would be there. She then asked whether Cena would be there as well.

“So this is kind…I’m kind of waiting for my invite. Unfortunately, it’s not like a…I don’t have a prom date, so I have no one to go to the prom with. So I haven’t been asked to go yet. But that’s okay, that’s alright. Dwayne, I’m very excited that you are going. I have not yet found a golden ticket in my chocolate bar,. So I guess I gotta keep eating chocolate bars to find a golden ticket [laughs].

“It’s the fortieth installment of WrestleMania, and that gives me tremendous joy and happiness because the event is bigger than it’s ever been. I believe you should leave a place better than when you found it. I think I’ve done that, and it brings my heart so much joy to see the event in the place that it is now.”
