Kevin Nash shares his thoughts on All Elite Wrestling suspending Sammy Guevara.
AEW star Sammy Guevara was reportedly suspended following his match against Jeff Hardy, which aired on the February 16 episode of AEW Rampage. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select) reported that concussion protocol was not followed in the match. As a result, Guevara hit Hardy with the GTH after he suffered an injury, and sources said this should not have happened.
In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer subsequently reported that Guevara had been told to go right to the finish, due to the concerns about an injury, but Sammy continued the match. Meltzer’s report also cited sources who defended Guevara, saying it was a miscommunication between the two sides.
Speaking on Kliq This, WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash commented on the suspension.
“I don’t get it. If it was with malice, then yeah, then he should be suspended,” Kevin Nash said. “But a botched move’s a botched move.
Nash was then provided with more information. He was told about the report which noted that Guevara hit his finisher when he was told not to.
“That makes sense,” he said. “I’m sitting over here puzzled. Now it’s just like, okay. Hell yeah, suspend him.”
Kevin Nash: I Don’t Get It
As the conversation continued, Nash noted that he didn’t “get” it, and he pointed to Darby Allin’s high-risk offense.
“I just look at it and I say, man, it’s really hard for me to adhere to the concussion protocol when Darby f*cking catapults himself from Mount Olympus through glass onto a concrete floor, and that’s okay,” Kevin Nash said. “I don’t get it.”
