Samoa Joe names his Mount Rushmore of “Big Men” wrestlers.
Tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite will see two big, meaty men slapping some meat around, as Samoa Joe defends the AEW World Championship against Wardlow. Joe and Wardlow, of course, are no strangers to one another, with Wardlow previously defeating Joe to win the TNT Championship last year. In a similar vein to this upcoming beefy showdown, Samoa Joe was recently asked to identify his Mount Rushmore of “big man” wrestlers.
“I think Vader is definitely on that list,” Samoa Joe told Joe Murray of 98.5 The Sports Hub. “I’d put Mark Henry up there. Mark’s a guy who is just consistently strong as all get-out. Haku, I think he should qualify as a big man. Bam Bam Bigelow is more than deserving of a big-man spot on that list. And really, when you talk about a guy who kind of defined the genre, I think [Under]taker is definitely [there] too.”
Coincidentally, one of Samoa Joe’s dream matches was also considered as one of the “big men” of the wrestling world. Billed at 6-foot-8 and 300 pounds, Bruiser Brody made a significant mark during his 15-year career. While Brody has since passed away, Joe would’ve been honored to share a ring with him.
“Bruiser Brody was just a guy who, his energy and what he did, that acumen, that toughness. That’s a guy I’d be more than happy to be in the ring with,” Joe said.
