New champions will be crowned.
At NJPW Road to the New Beginning on January 24, Hiroshi Tanahashi, Kazuchika Okada, and Tomohiro Ishii defeated TMDK to retain the NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Championship. After the bout, Okada vacated the title, as he would be leaving the company after he wrapped up his commitments. Okada officially departed in February and joined AEW earlier in March.
In an update, NJPW announced that new champions will be crowned at Wrestling World 2024 on April 14. A one-night tournament will crown the new champions. The announcement did not name the participants or the matchups.
