AJ Francis Comments On Being Backstage At WWE Raw Last Night

AJ Francis says it felt good getting some love at WWE RAW.

Francis was spotted backstage at Raw last night, as first reported by Fightful. He was released from his contract in September 2023. However, he still has friends in the company, and ended up visiting them while he was in Houston.

Francis was invited to a show by his friend and American rapper Bun B, who is performing on Tuesday at Rodeo Houston. After being told by fans about WWE RAW while getting a rental car, he made his way to the arena. Here, he was welcomed backstage by his former coworkers.

AJ Francis said on Twitter that it “felt good” to have everybody excited to see him back at the show, even if just for one night while visiting a friend.

“Bun B invited me to his show at Rodeo Houston so I pulled up to H-Town today…” AJ Francis tweeted. “At the rental car spot a fan told me RAW was in Houston. EVERYONE I saw was excited to see me & that felt good…”

Francis spoke with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard about his relationship with Bun B. Francis was wearing one of Bun B’s “Trill Burgers” restaurant hats, and noted how it was a symbol of another opportunity that other pro wrestlers would die to have themselves.

An opportunity to die for

“Even this right here [points to his hat] — Trill Burgers. Bun B is the owner of Trill Burgers. Bun B is one of the most iconic, well-known, prolific rappers in the history of rap. I don’t know if you know who Bun B is, but he’s on the song ‘Big Pimpin’’ with Jay-Z, which is a very, very well-known song, one of the most famous songs in hip-hop. He’s been an icon for years, he’s part of UGK with Pimp C and they are one of the most iconic groups of all time. I rep him because I met him and he was a huge fan of what I can do. Not just wrestling-wise, but what I could do lyrically.

“We became boys. I was hanging with him on Super Bowl weekend in Vegas, he’s good people. He was actually supposed to be in New Orleans this past weekend for TNA, but it just didn’t work out. But that’s another big opportunity that wrestlers would die [to have], especially wrestlers from the culture, knowing that Bun B supports them and wants to work with them. The Infantry [Shawn Dean and Carlie Bravo] from AEW pulled up and they said that themselves. They were like, ‘Thank you so much for hooking us up with Bun…’ I look out for my people and I always have, and that’s why people like yourself genuinely fuck with me.”
