Sami Zayn is officially headed to WrestleMania 40, and will be battling for the WWE Intercontinental Championship.
To close out tonight’s episode of WWE RAW, a Gauntlet Match for the right to face Gunther at WrestleMania for his title was held. In it, Ricochet, JD McDonagh, Bronson Reed, Shinsuke Nakamura, Chad Gable, and Zayn all took part.
In the end, it came down to Zayn and Gable as the final two. Gable came down to the ring after Zayn had eliminated both Reed and Nakamura, and also had been ambushed by Bronson. Instead of quickly taking advantage, Gable allowed Sami to get up, and then the two went at it.
Toward the end of the match, Gable and Zayn began trading pinfall attempts, with Gable eventually locking Zayn in an ankle lock and primed to win. However, Zayn quickly rolled forward, rolling up Gable and securing the pinfall win.
After the match, Gable congratulated Zayn, who will now go on to try and end Gunther’s incredible, record-breaking reign as Intercontinental Champion.
