Sting Says He Stopped Using Steroids In 1990

Sting shares more details about his past history of using steroids.

AEW Revolution marked the in-ring retirement of Sting. Throughout the night, many paid tribute to his career, which included an early run with Jim Hellwig (Ultimate Warrior).

Sting spoke candidly about their time together during the AEW Revolution post-show media scrum. He said that they were meant to start together, however, it was good that they split up because they wouldn’t have lasted long-term. Sting then said while he did use steroids in the past, he quit using them in 1990.

“I think it was good that we were both together to begin with because he looked like a freak. I was 265 pounds and I looked like a little kid compared to him. But both of us together were pretty intimidating and we had a lot of people [referring to us as] ‘Maybelline Warriors,’” Sting said. I think it was good that we ended up splitting up. He went his way and I went mine. We were not meant to be together. We were meant to start together and it got us in the door for sure, but he needed to be on his own. And I needed [that too.] We were going to kill each other, literally, on the road. Two roided out young men.

“Well that’s what it was then. Two raided out guys. I mean, [I’m just] shooting straight here. That stopped in 1990 for me. It didn’t stop for him, but it stopped for me.”
