WWE SmackDown‘s viewership increased on March 1.
Wrestlenomics reports that 2.348 million viewers tuned in on Friday. This marks an increase from last week, when 2.272 million viewers watched the show.
In the 18 to 49 demographic, SmackDown scored a 0.64 rating. This is also up from last week (0.64 rating in the same demographic). Per Wrestlenomics, SmackDown ranked first in the demographic across all TV on Friday. The NBA game between the Mavericks and the Celtics on ESPN averaged 1.448 million viewers with a 0.41 rating in the key demographic.
Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics noted that the high quarter-hour averaged 2.75 million viewers and a 0.75 rating in the 18 to 49 demographic for the final portion of The Rock’s segment.
What happened on WWE SmackDown this week?
This week’s show kicked off with a 40-minute segment from The Bloodline. The Rock took most of the speaking time and challenged Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins to a tag match at WrestleMania 40. The segment ended with Rock acknowledging Roman Reigns as his Tribal Chief.
The WWE Women’s Tag Team Title match between Damage CTRL and the team of Bayley and Dakota Kai ended in a no-contest with Kai turned on Bayley.
Tiffany Stratton was also in action and picked up a win over Naomi. The match had time cut from it due to The Bloodline segment going long.
The main event of the show saw Randy Orton defeating Austin Theory. Grayson Waller and Theory jumped Orton after the match, and Kevin Owens made the save from the commentary table.
