Kazuchika Okada does not intend to return to NJPW following his departure.
In January, NJPW announced that seven-time world champion Kazuchika Okada would be leaving the company at the end of his contract. He wrapped up with the company with a few final matches in February. In his last bout in a NJPW ring, he scored the win in a ten-man tag team match. After Tetsuya Naito retained the world title in the main event, Okada came to the ring and shared a moment with his former rival.
In an interview with Tokyo Sports, Okada was asked about a potential rematch with Tetsuya Naito at a Tokyo Dome event, and he noted that he does not intend to return to NJPW. (H/t Jeremy Lambert of Fightful for the translation)
“I’m already looking ahead to what’s next, and I’m going out with the intention of never coming back to New Japan,” Okada said. “I’m sorry about that, but I don’t think so. Of course, I want to treasure the feeling and the words I received.”
