Tama Tonga Loses Final NJPW Match At NJPW New Beginning In Sapporo

Tama Tonga teamed up with Tanga Loa one last time in his final NJPW match.

At NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 18, Tanga Loa announced that January was his final month with the company. He noted that he would be moving in order to be closer to his family, and he went on to wrap up his commitments with NJPW in February.

Tama Tonga’s final NJPW match came at NJPW New Beginning in Sapporo on February 24. There, he and Tanga Loa reunited one last time to face El Phantasmo and Hikuleo, Tama’s brother. In the end, Hikuleo scored the victory.

Tonga had been with NJPW since 2010. During his time with the company, he won the NEVER Openweight Championship four times and the IWGP Tag Team Championship seven times. He also won the NEVER Openweiht Six-Man Tag Team Championship four times.

Outside of NJPW, Tonga is a former ROH World Tag Team Champion, and he has also won gold in CMLL.
