Mustafa Ali won the gold in his TNA debut.
In the main event of TNA No Surrender on February 23, Mustafa Ali challenged Chris Sabin for the TNA X-Division Championship. They battled it out in a thrilling match, and the momentum swung back and forth. In the end, Ali scored the win with a 450 Splash.
WWE released Mustafa Ali in a wave of cuts in September. Since then, Ali has embarked on his World Tour Campaign, as he has competed for various companies. In addition to TNA, he has also brought his campaign to NJPW. He will face Hiromu Takahashi at NJPW Windy City Riot.
Sabin previously won the gold at IMPACT 1000. This reign marked his tenth with the title.
