Drew McIntyre is keen on letting people talk.
McIntyre spoke with The West Australian‘s Craig O’Donoghue to promote the upcoming WWE Elimination Chamber premium live event. O’Donoghue asked McIntyre if he was “signed beyond WrestleMania 40” or if he could give any information on where his contract talks stand.
“Oh no, I can’t talk about that. I’ll let the internet talk about it though. So I’ll just keep watching, keep watching every week and it’s interesting, I’m not the only one without a contract in WWE. It’s just interesting that it seems to be mine that’s [being talked about] every single week for a year straight.”
It was reported last April that Drew McIntyre’s WWE contract was in its final year. The two sides were reportedly in talks on a renewal, but apparently haven’t agreed on terms. McIntyre told the press that he was focused on the present and didn’t plan on being anywhere but WWE.
In a later update, he told TMZ that there might be “some smoke with some fire” when it came to the reports about not signing a new deal yet. It still remains to be seen if and when McIntyre will sign a new contract with the company.
Drew McIntyre is in his second run with WWE, which began in 2017. Since then, he has won the WWE Championship (2 times), the NXT Championship, and the 2020 Men’s Royal Rumble.
